Filipinos urged to act on
global warming
The recent food crisis and
natural calamities such as flood, drought and the unusual change in
rainfall amount and pattern have been blamed on the global warming
phenomenon.
“It is a problem the entire
world is facing that is why all of us must work together to solve it,”
said Ecological Society of the
Claparols reiterates his
call on the Philippine government to take the initial steps and lead the
entire Filipino nation in abating the effects of climate change.
“We must change our ways on
consumption and reduce our carbon footprint by promoting clean renewable
alternatives such as biomass, wind and solar energies,” he said. “We
need to stop polluting our environment.”
Claparols also suggested the
gorvernment must spearhead the drive to plant more trees and protect the
remaining rainforests. This will help prevent soil erosion and heavy
floods like the one that devastated
