Vietnam to host East Asia Environment Ministerial Meeting
VietNamNet
Bridge - The ASEAN Plus 3 Environment Ministerial Meeting will take place
in Hanoi from October 5 to 12 to discuss issues relating to natural and
biodiversity conservation, climate change, rising sea level, water resource
management and environmental protection.
The meeting aims to seek an action plan to implement the Statement issued by
leaders at the third East Asia Summit (EAS) in Singapore on energy, climate
change and environmental protection.
The upcoming meeting will be attended by Environment Ministers of ASEAN member
countries, Japan, the Republic of Korea and China, as well as ASEAN Senior
Officials on the Environment (ASOEN) and the ASEAN Secretariat.
Speaking at a conference in Hanoi on July 11, deputy head of the National
Environment Department Tran Hong said the event is a good chance for Vietnam to
gain experience from other countries on environmental protection when climate
change has made a direct impact on Vietnam and its environmental security.
